Florida as a Strategic Logistics Hub in 2025

The state of Florida solidifies its leadership as the logistics epicenter of the Americas, driven by record investments, advanced technology, and privileged access to global markets.

A historic investment in infrastructure

The Florida government has earmarked 15.5 billion in the 2024-2025  budget exclusively for transportation projects. This package - part of the Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) "Moving Florida Forward" -  plan aims to decompress critical routes and improve logistical efficiency in key corridors such as I-75, I-4 and the Miami and Tampa port approaches.

Furthermore, the support program for Intermodal Logistics Centers (ILC) receives $15 million annually until 2029, strengthening connections among ports, airports, and industrial parks.

These investments are designed not only to expedite cargo movement but also to attract global logistics operators seeking efficiency and resilience.

An expanding market

According to data from Mordor Intelligence the Florida logistics market will reach $78.32 billion by 2025, projecting growth to $97.1 billion in 2030 at a CAGR of 4.45% during the forecast period (2025-2030).

Another relevant fact to mention is that Florida is home to more than 58,000 companies involved in export activities, ranking second nationally, behind only California.

All of this is driven by:

  • The surge in e-commerce and last-mile deliveries
  • The progression of nearshoring from Latin America.
  • And the imperative for more agile and diversified supply chains.

Technology: The New Competitive Differentiator

Logistics in Florida is not only growing in volume but also becoming increasingly intelligent. AI-driven route optimization, automated warehousing, IoT-enabled tracking, blockchain, and real-time traceability are transforming the way goods are warehoused, transported, and secured. These advancements are positioning the Port of Miami and Florida as a whole as key strategic logistics hubs.

A gateway to the hemispheric trade

Florida´s location plays a central role in trade with Latin America. From the ports of Miami, Port Everglades, Jacksonville and Tampa, the cargo departs to more than 70 regional destinations, positioning Florida as the natural logistics gateway between North and South America.

This advantage is enhanced by trade agreements, free trade zones and customs agreements that reduce rates and clearance times, further highlighting Florida as the best gateway to and from the Americas.

In this scenario, companies operating in Florida face an environment of great dynamism... but also of new logistical, operational and climatic risks.  Being prepared with flexible coverages, specialized advice and strategic vision is no longer optional: it is a competitive advantage.
