Hanseatica launches its new Renewable Energy Insurance to support the growth of clean energy in Argentina

Amidst the full expansion of Argentina's energy transition, Hanseatica launches an insurance policy designed to protect solar and wind projects throughout all their stages.

December 11, 2025 – Buenos Aires City Amidst a period of historic expansion in Argentina's energy sector, Hanseatica Insurance Company announces the launch of its Renewable Energy Insurance, a comprehensive solution designed to protect photovoltaic solar and wind projects from the construction phase through full operation.

According to an analysis by RICSA, in October 2025, renewable energies —excluding hydroelectric— accounted for 25% of the country's total electricity generation, reaching a historic volume of 2,706 GWh, which represents a year-on-year increase of 29.7%. This is further bolstered by projected investments exceeding USD 4.5 billion for the 2025–2026 biennium, driving the development of new wind farms and solar plants across Argentina.

This growth, however, presents inherent challenges that can impact project continuity and profitability, including technical failures, climatic events, risks associated with component transportation, construction delays, and operational disruptions. In this context, specialized insurance coverage is paramount to ensuring the sector's financial and operational stability.

An Insurance Solution Covering the Entire Project Lifecycle

The new insurance policy from offers coverage tailored to the two most critical stages: offers coverage tailored to the two most critical stages:

  • During construction and assembly
Includes property damage, civil liability, theft or vandalism on site, schedule interruptions, and protection for large equipment and components.
  • During operation
It covers mechanical or electrical failures, losses due to service interruptions, damage caused by natural phenomena, and coverage aimed at reinforcing the safety and sustainability of the plant.
The insurance is specifically aimed at developers and operators of wind and solar farms, EPC companies, investment funds, utilities and energy equipment manufacturers.

Argentina is consolidating its transition to a cleaner energy matrix, and our role as an insurer is to accompany that journey with technical solutions that are reliable and adapted to the new scale demanded by the sector. This product was designed to provide support at every stage of the project, ensuring predictability and operational continuity," said Guido Bottin, Operations at Hanseatica Insurance Company.
