Argentina sets a record in renewable energy generation in 2025

How Renewable Energy Insurance is consolidating as a strategic tool for companies in the sector.

A few months ago, in our article “Renewable Energy in Argentina: The Major Commitment and Why Comprehensive Insurance is Key”, we highlighted the sustained growth of clean energy sources in the country and how Renewable Energy Insurance was beginning to position itself as a strategic tool, rather than optional.

Today, with official data at the close of 2025, we can confirm that this trend not only continued, but that Argentina set a historic record for renewable generation, reaching unprecedented coverage levels, significant advances in installed capacity, and new challenges for its full integration into the energy matrix.

This progress opens opportunities, but also challenges — and positions Renewable Energy Insurance as a strategic tool to protect investments and operations. Below, we analyze what happened during the past year and what these numbers mean for the country's energy future.

Growth Trend in 2025

During 2025, renewable energy generation showed a sustained expansion compared to 2024, driven especially by wind and solar farms. According to the Argentine Electric Monitor, renewable generation —excluding large hydroelectric plants— grew by 16.54% in 2025, consolidating itself as the segment with the largest expansion within the electrical system. In this context, its share in total generation increased from approximately 16% in 2024 to around 19% by the end of 2025.

Beyond the annual results, 2025 saw emblematic episodes of demand coverage with renewable sources.  In October 2025, renewable energies, excluding large hydroelectric plants, exceeded 24.8% of monthly electricity generation, the historical maximum for a full month, reflecting the maturity of the operational wind and solar fleet.

This growth is part of a broader process of energy matrix diversification, driven by infrastructure investments, technological development, and greater integration of clean sources into the electrical system. The evolution of official data shows that renewable energies ceased to be marginal and became a relevant component of national energy supply.

Why is Renewable Energy Insurance a priority?

The advancement of renewable energies also presents new operational challenges for projects in operation and for those in the development stage. The asset protection, operational continuity, and risk management associated with climatic, technical, and logistical conditions are part of the scenario accompanying the sector's expansion.

A wind or solar project can face losses due to extreme weather events, technical failures, or construction delays.  Specialized coverage not only supports investments but also mitigates operational and financial uncertainties.

It is here that Renewable Energy Insurance positions itself as a key tool for:

  • Protect investments and operations against technical contingencies, material damages, or unforeseen failures.
  • Provide financial predictability for developers and financiers.
  • Strengthen stakeholder confidence by supporting projects with risk mitigation solutions.

This preventive approach not only safeguards assets but also enhances Argentina's competitiveness as an attractive destination for clean investments.

In an environment where renewable assets grow in scale, complexity, and risk exposure, Renewable Energy Insurance ceases to be merely a safeguard against incidents: it becomes a critical tool for operational continuity, contractual compliance, and long-term financial stability.
