$604 billion: Mexican exports reached a record high in 2025
Mexico has solidified its position as Latin America's largest exporter, yet this growth also imposes significant demands on operational planning, transportation, and international compliance.
Mexico Accelerates Its Global Role
Mexico concluded 2025 as Latin America's foremost exporter, surpassing USD 604 billion in foreign sales. This data, released by the Ministry of Finance and INEGI, confirms the positive impact of nearshoring and the relocation of global supply chains.
However, this historic expansion conceals a silent warning: logistical risks have also escalated, and numerous businesses remain inadequately protected to mitigate them.
Mexico: The Region's Export Engine
- Mexico exported USD 604.186 billion in 2025, nearly double Brazil's (USD 348.7 billion).
- It accounts for 33% of Latin America's total exports.
- It is the leading regional exporter of manufactured goods and high-tech products, including light vehicles, transmitters, and digital processing units.
- Over 80% of its exports are destined for the United States.
This growth poses a critical question for exporting companies: are they protecting their cargo with the same meticulous planning applied to their business development?
Transportation Modalities and Associated Risks
80% of Mexican exports are destined for the United States. Of this volume, 71% is transported by land, primarily via truck, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).
This establishes road transport as the most critical logistical link for Mexico's export economy.
- High incidence of cargo theft (over 7,200 cases in the first half of 2025).
- Road accidents, handling damage, adverse weather conditions.
- Risks in border areas and during unauthorized stops.
